The 49ers fleeced the room on the phones and earned a A-. The 49ers went off the board in a big way for Oscar Delp, 33 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. The sum of the weekend is a deserved A-.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. That wide receiver hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The Kingsley Suamataia pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.
Bottom line, with Olaivavega Ioane leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
Pick Analysis
Pick40
Rnd2
Olaivavega Ioane
They took Olaivavega Ioane at par in Round 2, Pick 8, which is nothing to complain about. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick60
Rnd2
Jake Slaughter
They let Jake Slaughter come to them and pounced at pick 60. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick72
Rnd3
Caden Curry
They talked themselves into Caden Curry at the 72nd overall pick, and the board did not agree. It fills a real need, too.
Pick92
Rnd3
Monroe Freeling
A reach on Monroe Freeling in the 92nd pick; the board had better options right there. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick127
Rnd4
Tim Keenan III
Tim Keenan III at No. 127 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick138
Rnd4
Oscar Delp
They reached into another round for Oscar Delp, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
