FutureA+
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Giants a B. The war room fell hard for Akheem Mesidor, and it showed at the 219th pick: 105 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
The Hampton pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. Leaving cornerback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The Rhamondre Stevenson deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.
They were the ones paying the moving tax this weekend.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Tre Harris
In pick No. 25 they get a true top target. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick34
Rnd2
Harold Fannin Jr.
Harold Fannin Jr. at slot 34 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick58
Rnd2
JT Tuimoloau
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on JT Tuimoloau. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick65
Rnd3
Omarion Hampton
They will replay Omarion Hampton at pick 65 for years; that is how good the value is. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick77
Rnd3
Will Howard
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Will Howard well ahead of where he belonged. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick103
Rnd4
Jaeden Roberts
A wild overpay on Jaeden Roberts in the Round 4 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick134
Rnd4
Trey Zuhn III
A big swing on Trey Zuhn III at slot 134, well ahead of any board in the building. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick153
Rnd5
Ty Robinson
Ty Robinson at the Round 5 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick219
Rnd7
Akheem Mesidor
This one needs a full-page explanation: Akheem Mesidor in pick 219, miles early. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick238
Rnd7
Jamaree Caldwell
They reached a country mile for Jamaree Caldwell at the 238th pick, and the board is aghast. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick246
Rnd7
Kamren Fabiculanan
They took Kamren Fabiculanan at par in Round 7, Pick 30, which is nothing to complain about. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
