Lew should have been long gone. The 49ers pounced, and earned a B. Call it larceny. Connor Lew sat on the board until pick No. 92, and the 49ers did not need to be asked twice.
They punted on wide receiver, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The roster is better shaped than it was, with offensive lineman chief among the fixes.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick Analysis
Pick27
Rnd1
Olaivavega Ioane
In Round 1, Pick 27 they get a building block for the line at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick58
Rnd2
Anthony Hill Jr.
Anthony Hill Jr. in the 58th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick92
Rnd3
Connor Lew
The board fumbled Connor Lew all the way to No. 92, and they scooped it up. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick103
Rnd4
Jack Endries
No drama and no debate, Jack Endries went about where he belonged in the 103rd pick. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick127
Rnd4
Davison Igbinosun
Davison Igbinosun in the Round 4 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick133
Rnd4
Chris McClellan
Chris McClellan in pick No. 133 lands just on the right side of the ledger. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
