Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall
D
ValueB-
NeedB+
TradesF
FutureB+
A costly weekend of dealing drags the Seahawks to a D. Somebody took the Seahawks to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it.
The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. If Williams pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. On value alone, Jones makes the weekend a net positive.
The future picks help the war chest more than the win-now roster.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and quarterback is still a hole.
Pick Analysis
Pick27
Rnd1
Jackson Powers-Johnson
In the 27th pick they get an anchor for the offensive line. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick40
Rnd2
Payton Wilson
By-the-book stuff, Payton Wilson at Round 2, Pick 8 squarely in line with his ranking. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick67
Rnd3
Renardo Green
No edge and no loss on Renardo Green in slot 67; it is a wash and a sensible one. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick78
Rnd3
Cade Stover
They took Cade Stover at par in pick No. 78, which is nothing to complain about. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick83
Rnd3
Bralen Trice
No drama and no debate, Bralen Trice went about where he belonged in the Round 3 slot. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick90
Rnd3
Christian Mahogany
They went early on Christian Mahogany in pick 90, and the value did not follow. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick102
Rnd4
Jalen McMillan
Jalen McMillan at the 102nd overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick118
Rnd4
Cam Hart
Cam Hart at No. 118 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick155
Rnd5
Christian Jones
A tidy bit of business in Round 5, Pick 19, where Christian Jones graded well above the range. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick162
Rnd5
James Williams
A reach on James Williams in pick No. 162; the board had better options right there. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
