Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB TradesB FutureA
More right than wrong for the Steelers, and a B to prove it.

You can draft well and still miss the point. The Steelers did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to interior defensive lineman, which was the need that mattered most. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.

They are betting McLaughlin proves the room right and everyone else wrong. David Bakhtiari gives the group a proven body among the projects.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick Analysis
Pick39 Rnd2 T.J. Tampa
T.J. Tampa in the 39th pick is fair value, right on his grade. It fills a real need, too.
Pick48 Rnd2 Brian Thomas Jr.
They took Brian Thomas Jr. at par in No. 48, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick80 Rnd3 Marist Liufau
No edge and no loss on Marist Liufau in slot 80; it is a wash and a sensible one. The roster fit checks out.
Pick111 Rnd4 Seth McLaughlin
A premium they did not need to pay, Seth McLaughlin a notch or two before his time. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick116 Rnd4 Beau Brade
A straight-up fair deal on Beau Brade at the Round 4 slot, value and slot in agreement. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick189 Rnd6 Joe Milton III
Joe Milton III at pick 189 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick194 Rnd6 Darius Robinson
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Darius Robinson. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick237 Rnd7 Luke Reimer
Luke Reimer in the 237th overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
