Good, not great, for the Packers: B-. The one they had to fix is still broken. The Packers left quarterback untouched, and that omission hangs over an otherwise reasonable haul. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
Every board in the league had Williams lower, and that gap is the story. They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick23
Rnd1
Jack Sawyer
In the 23rd overall pick they get a problem off the edge, though they paid up to get him. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick54
Rnd2
Donovan Jackson
The board had cheaper options than Donovan Jackson at the Round 2 slot, and it noticed. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick87
Rnd3
Tai Felton
Tai Felton in No. 87 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick124
Rnd4
Nohl Williams
No edge and no loss on Nohl Williams in pick 124; it is a wash and a sensible one. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick159
Rnd5
Ty Robinson
No drama and no debate, Ty Robinson went about where he belonged in pick No. 159. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick198
Rnd6
Jason Marshall Jr.
By-the-book stuff, Jason Marshall Jr. at slot 198 squarely in line with his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick237
Rnd7
Shemar James
Shemar James in Round 7, Pick 21 is fair value, right on his grade. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick250
Rnd7
John Williams
John Williams at the 250th pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It fills a real need, too.
