They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Drake Maye is the Patriots' quarterback, full stop.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.

On the needs board they went 3 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.

If Drake Maye and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
