hnc DRAFTING FOR THEPatriots
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Patriots finally solved quarterback, and it carried them to a B-. Start where it matters. The Patriots took Jayden Daniels to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
Reaching for Wiley left real value on the table behind him. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick Analysis
Pick3
Rnd1
Jayden Daniels
By-the-book stuff, Jayden Daniels at the 3rd pick squarely in line with his ranking. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick34
Rnd2
Xavier Legette
A straight-up fair deal on Xavier Legette at slot 34, value and slot in agreement. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick68
Rnd3
Kiran Amegadjie
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Kiran Amegadjie in pick 68. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick103
Rnd4
Braelon Allen
Braelon Allen in Round 4, Pick 3 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick139
Rnd5
Ben Sinnott
No edge and no loss on Ben Sinnott in pick No. 139; it is a wash and a sensible one. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick182
Rnd6
Jared Wiley
They reached into another round for Jared Wiley, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It fills a real need, too.
Pick224
Rnd7
Christian Jones
They let Christian Jones come to them and pounced at No. 224. A need, and now a little less of one.
