The Steelers clearly saw something nobody else did in Jacob Cowing, taking him 28 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.

That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The Van Pran pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at quarterback, interior defensive lineman and other spots.

They banked enough surplus on Van Pran to cover a lot of smaller sins. It is a win-now wager, and the future is the stake.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
