FutureB-
The Giants lost the trade table, and the C- tells the story. Nobody else had Ethan Downs anywhere near slot 219. The Giants did, by 65 spots, and that gap is the whole story.
Landing Edwards that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. The trade table is where this weekend went wrong.
Interior defensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. Adding Darius Harris by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.
So much rides on Travis Hunter that the real verdict is a season or two away.
Pick Analysis
Pick3
Rnd1
Travis Hunter
In pick 3 they get a sticky cover corner at fair value.
Pick34
Rnd2
Jalon Walker
Jalon Walker slipping to No. 34 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick74
Rnd3
Cameron Williams
A tidy little value on Cameron Williams in the 74th pick, a step better than break-even. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick76
Rnd3
Darius Alexander
Darius Alexander at the 76th overall pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick99
Rnd3
Zy Alexander
They took Zy Alexander at par in Round 3, Pick 35, which is nothing to complain about. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick105
Rnd4
Jalen Milroe
Jalen Milroe slid further than he should have, and pick No. 105 is lovely value for the quarterback. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick111
Rnd4
Jackson Slater
A wild overpay on Jackson Slater in pick No. 111, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick149
Rnd5
Malachi Moore
A tidy bit of business in the Round 5 slot, where Malachi Moore graded well above the range. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick154
Rnd5
Hollin Pierce
Nice patience on Hollin Pierce, who had no business lasting to No. 154. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick171
Rnd5
Tyler Shough
Somehow Tyler Shough was still sitting there in the 171st overall pick, and they pounced on premier quarterback value. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick219
Rnd7
Ethan Downs
Ethan Downs at Round 7, Pick 3 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick246
Rnd7
Kyren Lacy
Kyren Lacy at the 246th pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick251
Rnd7
Joshua Simon
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Joshua Simon. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick257
Rnd7
Donovan Edwards
They robbed the room for Donovan Edwards here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
