If confidence were a draft strategy, the Giants would have aced it. Montrell Johnson Jr. at pick No. 246 is 46 spots clear of where he belonged. It grades a D+, and the process earned it.

The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Starks.

They left with interior defensive lineman solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
