Milroe is the plan now, and the Giants grade out a D+. Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Giants, and the value they bled adds up to real damage.
Jalen Milroe is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. If Milroe pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
The Burke pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
A rough weekend that leaves the roster with more questions than answers.
Pick Analysis
Pick28
Rnd1
Jalen Milroe
They paid a round early for Jalen Milroe in pick 28, more than the board wanted. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick34
Rnd2
Denzel Burke
A slide stopped in slot 34, with Denzel Burke worth more than the price. The roster fit checks out.
Pick35
Rnd2
Kenneth Grant
A clean, defensible pick in the 35th pick with a little surplus value in Kenneth Grant. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick38
Rnd2
Ashton Jeanty
Nice patience on Ashton Jeanty, who had no business lasting to pick No. 38. It fills a real need, too.
Pick39
Rnd2
Kevin Winston Jr.
A quiet steal in the 39th overall pick: Kevin Winston Jr. for less than the market said. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick139
Rnd5
TJ Ferguson
Nothing to complain about; TJ Ferguson went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick166
Rnd6
Jahdae Barron
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Jahdae Barron in the Round 6 slot. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick198
Rnd7
Colbie Young
Colbie Young in Round 7, Pick 6 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick216
Rnd7
John Campbell Jr.
John Campbell Jr. slid further than he should have, and No. 216 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick219
Rnd7
CJ Dippre
CJ Dippre at pick No. 219 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the tight end. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
