The Solomon Byrd selection is the head-turner. The Broncos reached 36 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered.

The whole projection now runs through Caleb Williams; hit there and everything else looks smarter. Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. They punted on linebacker, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

Getting Jackson where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. Spend now, pay later; the math only works if this class delivers.

The verdict is harsh because the weekend was, and there is little to argue.
