Draft Grade — Falcons
Overall B
ValueA- NeedB- TradesA+ FutureF
The Falcons worked the phones like thieves and earned a B.

The rest of the league had time to spare on Byrum Brown; the Falcons did not wait, grabbing him 102 spots ahead at the 187th overall pick. No fireworks, but a solid B.

The Echoles value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck.

A whole weekend of picks and running back is somehow still a want. The roster is better shaped than it was, with interior defensive lineman chief among the fixes.

Good work on the whole, with running back the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick14 Rnd1 Jeremiah Smith
In pick 14 they get a true top target, and a steal at that.
Pick15 Rnd1 Colin Simmons
Colin Simmons slipping to the Round 1 slot is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick45 Rnd2 Trevor Goosby
Circle this one: Trevor Goosby at the 45th pick is a fall that decides a draft. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick112 Rnd4 Will Echoles
Will Echoles at Round 4, Pick 11 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick187 Rnd6 Byrum Brown
Byrum Brown in slot 187 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick217 Rnd6 Jalen Mayo
Jalen Mayo at No. 217 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick220 Rnd6 Mateen Ibirogba
They will replay Mateen Ibirogba at the 220th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick228 Rnd7 Maraad Watson
Value said wait; Maraad Watson in pick 228 says they were not listening. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
