Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall F
ValueC+ NeedB TradesF FutureD-
Nix is the Seahawks' new face under center. Grade: F.

Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Seahawks spent the Round 7 slot on Hayden Hatten, a name most had 108 spots down the list.

Bo Nix is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off. They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back.

A whole weekend of picks and linebacker is somehow still a want. The Smith pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at linebacker, running back and other spots.

It is a win-now wager, and the future is the stake.

About as rough as a weekend gets on paper, with linebacker still staring back at them.

Pick Analysis
Pick7 Rnd1 Brock Bowers
Brock Bowers in the Round 1 slot is fair value, right on his grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick16 Rnd1 Dallas Turner
In pick 16 they get a bendy edge with upside. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick18 Rnd1 Bo Nix
In pick No. 18 they get a long-term answer under center at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick33 Rnd2 Chris Braswell
No drama and no debate, Chris Braswell went about where he belonged in the 33rd overall pick. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick49 Rnd2 Jackson Powers-Johnson
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jackson Powers-Johnson. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick59 Rnd2 Ja'Tavion Sanders
They paid sticker price for Ja'Tavion Sanders in the 59th pick, and that is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick65 Rnd3 Christian Haynes
Christian Haynes at the 65th overall pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick81 Rnd3 Cooper Beebe
Cooper Beebe at pick 81 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick83 Rnd3 Maason Smith
A surprising call. With linebacker, running back and other spots still to address, they spent the 83rd pick on Maason Smith, a DT-EDGE they were not short of.
Pick106 Rnd4 Marshawn Kneeland
They took Marshawn Kneeland at par in the Round 4 slot, which is nothing to complain about. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick115 Rnd4 Ainias Smith
A conviction pick on Ainias Smith at No. 115 that the board grades a round light. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick118 Rnd4 Jordan Travis
Jordan Travis at slot 118 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick144 Rnd5 Kitan Oladapo
Kitan Oladapo at Round 5, Pick 8 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick154 Rnd5 Delmar Glaze
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Delmar Glaze. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick194 Rnd6 Christian Jones
Christian Jones at No. 194 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick220 Rnd6 Xavier Thomas
Xavier Thomas in the Round 6 slot is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick236 Rnd7 Hayden Hatten
Hayden Hatten in Round 7, Pick 16 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
