Draft Grade — Giants
Overall A-
ValueA NeedC- TradesA+ FutureA+
Larceny in the 112th overall pick lands the Giants a A-, Abney II and all.

You build a draft on nights like this. Keith Abney II had no business being available in pick 112, and the Giants did the only sane thing and turned in the card. Just about everything broke right, and the A- follows.

They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. Reaching for Fields left real value on the table behind him. The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.

It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.

Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Caleb Downs and all.

Pick Analysis
Pick20 Rnd1 Arvell Reese
In the 20th overall pick they get a coverage-and-run second-level piece, outstanding value to boot.
Pick24 Rnd1 Spencer Fano
In pick 24 they get a building block for the line at a price that makes it sweeter. Need was not the driver here.
Pick26 Rnd1 Jeremiyah Love
In the 26th pick they get a three-down runner, and a steal at that. More want than need.
Pick29 Rnd1 Kayden McDonald
In slot 29 they get a disruptive interior force, and a steal at that. Need was not the driver here.
Pick30 Rnd1 Caleb Downs
Caleb Downs at the Round 1 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Where it fits the depth chart is the real question.
Pick39 Rnd2 Jermod McCoy
Somehow Jermod McCoy was still sitting there in Round 2, Pick 7, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. It does not line up with the team's obvious holes.
Pick70 Rnd3 Malachi Fields
Malachi Fields at pick No. 70 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. This was not a hole anyone had circled.
Pick91 Rnd3 Caleb Lomu
They will replay Caleb Lomu at No. 91 for years; that is how good the value is. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick92 Rnd3 Emmanuel Pregnon
A offensive lineman of that caliber at pick No. 92 is the definition of value, full stop. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick105 Rnd4 Chris Bell
The board fumbled Chris Bell all the way to the 105th pick, and they scooped it up. A pick in search of a role on this roster.
Pick109 Rnd4 Lee Hunter
Lee Hunter in the Round 4 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick112 Rnd4 Keith Abney II
Keith Abney II at pick 112 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Hard to map this one onto the depth chart at all.
Pick126 Rnd4 Christen Miller
Christen Miller in No. 126 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
