Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall
B+
ValueB+
NeedB-
TradesA-
FutureA
The Commanders robbed the room for Washington. Final grade: B+. When a board-topper like A'Mauri Washington slides to slot 58, you do not overthink it, and the Commanders did not. More right than wrong, and a B+ to match.
They punted on tight end, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Adding Upton Stout by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick27
Rnd1
KJ Bolden
In pick No. 27 they get a two-high chess piece at a price that makes it sweeter. Need was not the driver here.
Pick58
Rnd2
A'Mauri Washington
Taking A'Mauri Washington in slot 58 is close to grand larceny; an interior defensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick71
Rnd3
Jyaire Hill
Jyaire Hill in the 71st overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick102
Rnd4
Antwan Raymond
No drama and no debate, Antwan Raymond went about where he belonged in No. 102. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick134
Rnd4
Justin Evans
Justin Evans slipping to Round 4, Pick 34 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick152
Rnd5
Mateen Ibirogba
Mateen Ibirogba in the 152nd pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick179
Rnd5
Mason Curtis
A tidy bit of business in the Round 5 slot, where Mason Curtis graded well above the range. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick185
Rnd6
Christian Gray
Christian Gray in pick 185 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick196
Rnd6
Christian Alliegro
Christian Alliegro at slot 196 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick201
Rnd6
T.J. Moore
They took T.J. Moore at par in the Round 6 slot, which is nothing to complain about. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick223
Rnd7
Cole Sullivan
Nothing to complain about; Cole Sullivan went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
