Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Patriots answered their biggest question with Maye. Grade: B-.

The Patriots spent the pick that matters most on Drake Maye, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.

That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Guerendo falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick3 Rnd1 Drake Maye
In pick 3 they get their quarterback of the future. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick34 Rnd2 Xavier Legette
Xavier Legette at No. 34 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick68 Rnd3 Kingsley Suamataia
Kingsley Suamataia at slot 68 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It fills a real need, too.
Pick103 Rnd4 Cam Hart
Cam Hart at the Round 4 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick137 Rnd5 Isaac Guerendo
Isaac Guerendo is a better player than the 137th pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick180 Rnd6 Tip Reiman
No edge and no loss on Tip Reiman in pick No. 180; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick193 Rnd6 Myles Cole
Myles Cole in Round 6, Pick 18 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick231 Rnd7 Tylan Grable
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Tylan Grable. The roster fit checks out.
