DaveDanc DRAFTING FOR THEPatriots
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall

FutureB-
The Patriots cashed the board's mistake on Jackson: B. The Patriots did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Brennan Jackson fell into pick No. 180. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
Every board in the league had Ali lower, and that gap is the story. For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. They went 6 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick3
Rnd1
Marvin Harrison Jr.
In the 3rd pick they get a weapon on the perimeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick34
Rnd2
J.J. McCarthy
A reasonable price with a little left over, J.J. McCarthy in the 34th overall pick. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick68
Rnd3
Kiran Amegadjie
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Kiran Amegadjie. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick103
Rnd4
Khyree Jackson
Khyree Jackson at slot 103 is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick137
Rnd5
Blake Fisher
Blake Fisher at pick No. 137 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick180
Rnd6
Brennan Jackson
Somehow Brennan Jackson was still sitting there in the Round 6 slot, and they pounced on premier edge rusher value. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick193
Rnd6
Jared Wiley
A conviction pick on Jared Wiley at Round 6, Pick 18 that the board grades a round light. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick231
Rnd7
Rasheen Ali
Rasheen Ali at No. 231 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
