Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall D+
ValueB NeedB+ TradesF FutureB-
The 49ers robbed the room for Membou. Final grade: D+.

The Jack Kiser selection is the head-turner. The 49ers reached 36 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered. A D+ that will need time and luck to look better.

The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. The Membou value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.

It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.

Pick Analysis
Pick17 Rnd1 Wyatt Milum
In the 17th pick they get a cornerstone up front. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick48 Rnd2 Landon Jackson
A slide stopped in pick No. 48, with Landon Jackson worth more than the price. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick50 Rnd2 Malaki Starks
Malaki Starks at the Round 2 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick101 Rnd3 Ajani Cornelius
No edge and no loss on Ajani Cornelius in No. 101; it is a wash and a sensible one. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick126 Rnd4 Jihaad Campbell
Jihaad Campbell at the Round 4 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick138 Rnd4 Benjamin Morrison
Benjamin Morrison in Round 4, Pick 37 is fair value, right on his grade. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick155 Rnd5 Armand Membou
Somehow Armand Membou was still sitting there in No. 155, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick183 Rnd6 Tonka Hemingway
Tonka Hemingway in pick No. 183 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick192 Rnd6 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
They paid sticker price for Dont'e Thornton Jr. in slot 192, and that is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick235 Rnd7 Mason Taylor
Mason Taylor at the 235th overall pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick248 Rnd7 Kurtis Rourke
The board fumbled Kurtis Rourke all the way to the 248th pick, and they scooped it up. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick250 Rnd7 Damien Martinez
Damien Martinez at pick 250 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick255 Rnd7 Jack Kiser
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jack Kiser. It fills a real need, too.
