The 49ers let Lew fall and pounced. Final grade: B+.

Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Connor Lew got past him. The 49ers do not have to explain a thing at the 94th overall pick. It nets out to a B+, which feels about right.

The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

They read the board right and Emmanuel Pregnon was the payoff at pick No. 48. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick58 Rnd2 Omar Cooper Jr.
Omar Cooper Jr. at Round 2, Pick 26 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick94 Rnd3 Connor Lew
Circle this one: Connor Lew at the Round 3 slot is a fall that decides a draft. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.

Zakee Wheatley slid further than he should have, and No. 99 is lovely value for the safety. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
