Draft Grade — Bears
Overall D-
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureB-
A franchise passer in Williams headlines a D- weekend for the Bears.

The Bears lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again. Hard to defend, and the D- reflects that.

Everything downstream of Caleb Williams depends on Caleb Williams, and the building knows it. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through cornerback.

The Murphy II steal is the beam this whole class leans on. Reaching for Murphy left real value on the table behind him.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Caleb Williams
In Round 1, Pick 1 they get their guy under center for the next decade at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick9 Rnd1 Malik Nabers
In the Round 1 slot they get a matchup problem out wide. A real need, handled.
Pick43 Rnd2 Byron Murphy II
Byron Murphy II in slot 43 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick75 Rnd3 Gabriel Murphy
They paid a round early for Gabriel Murphy in the 75th pick, more than the board wanted. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick110 Rnd4 Dominick Puni
They barely believed it either: Dominick Puni still on the board at pick 110. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick111 Rnd4 Braelon Allen
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 111 with a little surplus value in Braelon Allen. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick123 Rnd4 Ben Sinnott
The board had cheaper options than Ben Sinnott at the 123rd overall pick, and it noticed. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick143 Rnd5 Tykee Smith
They took Tykee Smith at par in No. 143, which is nothing to complain about. A minor itch, scratched.
