Draft Grade — Cardinals
Overall
B-
ValueA-
NeedB

FutureC
The Cardinals let Emmanwori fall and pounced. Final grade: B-. You could see the war room lean forward. Nick Emmanwori at the 47th pick is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. The veteran additions, Michael Mayer chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.
A small leak at the table, if not a fatal one. On the needs board they went 3 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick Analysis
Pick47
Rnd2
Nick Emmanwori
You do not let a safety like Nick Emmanwori reach pick 47 and blink. They did not. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick78
Rnd3
Jared Ivey
No edge and no loss on Jared Ivey in the 78th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick119
Rnd4
Cam Skattebo
Cam Skattebo in the 119th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick152
Rnd5
Nick Nash
Nick Nash at pick No. 152 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
