Draft Grade — Ravens
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
A solid, sensible weekend for the Ravens: B-.

The Ravens torched the value chart for Thor Griffith, taking him 86 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted.

If one pick saves this weekend, it is Sauls. It is not that Paul Jr. is a bad player; it is that the Ravens had louder needs to answer first.

That running back hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick54 Rnd2 Alfred Collins
Alfred Collins in pick 54 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick67 Rnd3 Darien Porter
A reach on Darien Porter in the 67th pick; the board had better options right there. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick68 Rnd3 Jayden Higgins
No edge and no loss on Jayden Higgins in the 68th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick69 Rnd3 Ashton Gillotte
This one needs a full-page explanation: Ashton Gillotte in Round 3, Pick 5, miles early. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick91 Rnd3 Cody Simon
A wild overpay on Cody Simon in slot 91, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick94 Rnd3 Chris Paul Jr.
A want over a need in No. 94: Chris Paul Jr. adds a linebacker while running back keeps waiting.
Pick106 Rnd4 Gunnar Helm
Gunnar Helm at the 106th overall pick is money in the bank, a tight end taken below his worth. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick108 Rnd4 Jalen Milroe
Value with a capital V on Jalen Milroe in No. 108, a genuine coup. The roster fit checks out.
Pick129 Rnd4 Logan Brown
Logan Brown in the 129th pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick143 Rnd5 KeAndre Lambert-Smith
They left a pile of value on the table to take KeAndre Lambert-Smith this early at slot 143. It fills a real need, too.
Pick176 Rnd5 Cobee Bryant
Cobee Bryant at the Round 5 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick179 Rnd6 Ben Sauls
They will replay Ben Sauls at pick No. 179 for years; that is how good the value is. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick183 Rnd6 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
The board had Dont'e Thornton Jr. higher than pick 183, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick200 Rnd6 Jay Higgins
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jay Higgins at Round 6, Pick 24. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick203 Rnd6 Oronde Gadsden II
A top-tier tight end at a bargain, Oronde Gadsden II in the 203rd pick, plain and simple. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick210 Rnd6 Clay Webb
Clay Webb at pick 210 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick212 Rnd6 Thor Griffith
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Thor Griffith well ahead of where he belonged. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick243 Rnd7 Phillip Webb
They reached into another round for Phillip Webb, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
