FutureB-
Nobody dealt better than the Colts this weekend: B. The trade table was a mismatch, and the Colts were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value.
For all the activity, running back went untouched, which is hard to explain. Getting Jones where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
The Cooper reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick Analysis
Pick27
Rnd1
Edgerrin Cooper
A premium they did not need to pay, Edgerrin Cooper a notch or two before his time. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick35
Rnd2
Keon Coleman
Keon Coleman at the 35th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick46
Rnd2
Kamari Lassiter
Kamari Lassiter in pick 46 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick82
Rnd3
Marshawn Kneeland
Marshawn Kneeland at the Round 3 slot is a conviction pick that outran the value. The roster fit checks out.
Pick116
Rnd4
Johnny Wilson
They went early on Johnny Wilson in slot 116, and the value did not follow. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick150
Rnd5
Kitan Oladapo
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Kitan Oladapo. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick161
Rnd5
Jarrian Jones
A tidy bit of business in Round 5, Pick 25, where Jarrian Jones graded well above the range. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Pick190
Rnd6
Joe Milton III
They paid a round early for Joe Milton III in pick No. 190, more than the board wanted. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick234
Rnd7
Trevin Wallace
No drama and no debate, Trevin Wallace went about where he belonged in the 234th pick. It fills a real need, too.
