Draft Grade — Lions
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedA- TradesB- FutureB-
A solid, sensible weekend for the Lions: B-.

If confidence were a draft strategy, the Lions would have aced it. Andrew Raym at the Round 6 slot is 38 spots clear of where he belonged. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.

That linebacker hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The McCaffrey pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.

Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the linebacker spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick29 Rnd1 Kamari Lassiter
In pick 29 they get a potential shutdown corner, even if it was a touch early. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick61 Rnd2 Bralen Trice
No drama and no debate, Bralen Trice went about where he belonged in the 61st pick. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick73 Rnd3 Kiran Amegadjie
Fair-plus on Kiran Amegadjie, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick164 Rnd5 Luke McCaffrey
A quiet steal in No. 164: Luke McCaffrey for less than the market said. The roster fit checks out.
Pick201 Rnd6 Andrew Raym
They reached a country mile for Andrew Raym at the 201st overall pick, and the board is aghast. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick205 Rnd6 Keaton Bills
A wild overpay on Keaton Bills in Round 6, Pick 30, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick249 Rnd7 Kalen DeLoach
Kalen DeLoach at Round 7, Pick 29 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
