FutureB-
The Browns got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the D-. The phones were a trap the Browns kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up. Travis has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. However the rest shakes out, Eichenberg at that price is a win they earned.
The Justin Fields deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.
A rough weekend that leaves the roster with more questions than answers.
Pick Analysis
Pick9
Rnd1
Olumuyiwa Fashanu
In the Round 1 slot they get protection for the quarterback. A real need, handled.
Pick31
Rnd1
Keon Coleman
In slot 31 they get a difference-maker at receiver at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick55
Rnd2
Jonathon Brooks
No drama and no debate, Jonathon Brooks went about where he belonged in No. 55. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick74
Rnd3
Brandon Dorlus
By-the-book stuff, Brandon Dorlus at the 74th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick75
Rnd3
Junior Colson
They took Junior Colson at par in Round 3, Pick 11, which is nothing to complain about. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick86
Rnd3
Christian Haynes
A tidy bit of business in pick 86, where Christian Haynes graded well above the range. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick89
Rnd3
Josh Newton
Josh Newton at the 89th pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick111
Rnd4
Blake Fisher
The board had Blake Fisher higher than pick No. 111, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick123
Rnd4
Cole Bishop
Cole Bishop at Round 4, Pick 23 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick127
Rnd4
Jordan Travis
Jordan Travis in the 127th overall pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick142
Rnd5
Tommy Eichenberg
Tommy Eichenberg slid further than he should have, and pick No. 142 is lovely value for the linebacker. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Pick204
Rnd6
Austin Stogner
Good price on Austin Stogner in slot 204, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick205
Rnd6
Isaiah Williams
A tidy little value on Isaiah Williams in pick 205, a step better than break-even. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick208
Rnd6
Jawhar Jordan
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jawhar Jordan. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick228
Rnd7
Myles Jones
Myles Jones at the 228th pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
