Draft Grade — Bills
Overall D
ValueB- NeedB TradesF FutureB-
Grand theft in the Round 3 slot: the Bills steal McNeil-Warren and grade out a D.

The phones were a trap the Bills kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal.

For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. The Branch reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.

That McNeil-Warren pick is the receipt they will wave around later. The roster is better shaped than it was, with linebacker chief among the fixes.

The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.

Pick Analysis
Pick29 Rnd1 Chris Brazzell II
In No. 29 they get a difference-maker at receiver. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick60 Rnd2 Josiah Trotter
By-the-book stuff, Josiah Trotter at Round 2, Pick 28 squarely in line with his ranking. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick91 Rnd3 Emmanuel McNeil-Warren
Taking Emmanuel McNeil-Warren in slot 91 is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick92 Rnd3 Zakee Wheatley
Zakee Wheatley at pick No. 92 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It fills a real need, too.
Pick93 Rnd3 Zachariah Branch
Zachariah Branch at pick 93 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick126 Rnd4 CJ Daniels
They paid sticker price for CJ Daniels in the 126th pick, and that is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick127 Rnd4 Keylan Rutledge
Keylan Rutledge in pick 127 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick133 Rnd4 Davison Igbinosun
A premium they did not need to pay, Davison Igbinosun a notch or two before his time. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick138 Rnd4 Max Iheanachor
A straight-up fair deal on Max Iheanachor at the 138th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick166 Rnd5 Lander Barton
Lander Barton at No. 166 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick167 Rnd5 Gracen Halton
The board had cheaper options than Gracen Halton at Round 5, Pick 29, and it noticed. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick220 Rnd7 Hykeem Williams
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Hykeem Williams. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick228 Rnd7 Ricardo Hallman
They paid up for Ricardo Hallman at slot 228 when waiting would have done the job. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
