Draft Grade — Ravens
Overall C
ValueB- NeedB TradesF FutureB-
The Ravens got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the C.

Boards are made to be trusted, and the Ravens shredded theirs for Malachi Lawrence. He came off 53 spots early, and the room will hear about it. It washes out to a C, no better and no worse.

They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. However the rest shakes out, Joly at that price is a win they earned. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback.

Call it incomplete, and check back in a couple of seasons.

Pick Analysis
Pick18 Rnd1 Arvell Reese
In slot 18 they get a sideline-to-sideline linebacker, and a steal at that. More want than need.
Pick37 Rnd2 Christen Miller
A straight-up fair deal on Christen Miller at the 37th pick, value and slot in agreement. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick45 Rnd2 Gennings Dunker
No edge and no loss on Gennings Dunker in the Round 2 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick84 Rnd3 Malachi Lawrence
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Malachi Lawrence well ahead of where he belonged. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick120 Rnd4 Justin Joly
Justin Joly in pick 120 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick152 Rnd5 Aamil Wagner
They took Aamil Wagner at par in No. 152, which is nothing to complain about. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick160 Rnd5 Jermaine Mathews Jr.
They paid sticker price for Jermaine Mathews Jr. in the Round 5 slot, and that is fine. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick172 Rnd5 Patrick Payton
Patrick Payton at pick 172 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick173 Rnd5 Barion Brown
They left a pile of value on the table to take Barion Brown this early at Round 5, Pick 35. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick249 Rnd7 Keyon Ware-Hudson
Value said wait; Keyon Ware-Hudson in the 249th pick says they were not listening. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick252 Rnd7 Roman Hemby
They liked Roman Hemby enough to skip the value, taking him in pick No. 252. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick254 Rnd7 Evan Tengesdahl
They went early on Evan Tengesdahl in No. 254, and the value did not follow. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
