A masterclass at the trade table lands the Seahawks a B+.

Somebody in the Round 7 slot was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Seahawks sat still while Dont'e Thornton Jr., the No. 179 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. A dependable weekend that grades out a B+.

They will need Hawes to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. The phones were where this weekend was really won. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

No edge and no loss on Bradyn Swinson in the 59th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.

A straight-up fair deal on Donovan Jackson at slot 82, value and slot in agreement. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.

The board had Jared Wilson higher than the 120th overall pick, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick128 Rnd4 Jaylin Noel
You do not let a wide receiver like Jaylin Noel reach Round 4, Pick 27 and blink. They did not. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick131 Rnd4 Mello Dotson
No drama and no debate, Mello Dotson went about where he belonged in the Round 4 slot. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick137 Rnd4 Smael Mondon Jr.
Smael Mondon Jr. at pick No. 137 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick173 Rnd5 Chase Lundt
Good price on Chase Lundt in pick 173, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.

Value said wait; Jackson Hawes in No. 187 says they were not listening. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.

The board fumbled Cobee Bryant all the way to the Round 6 slot, and they scooped it up. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.

Dont'e Thornton Jr. in No. 236 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
