Draft Grade — Panthers
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesB+ FutureB-
The Panthers let Polk fall into their laps, and walked away with a B.

When a board-topper like Ja'Lynn Polk slides to the Round 3 slot, you do not overthink it, and the Panthers did not. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.

The safety hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

Good work on the whole, with safety the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick33 Rnd2 JT Tuimoloau
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on JT Tuimoloau. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick76 Rnd3 Ja'Lynn Polk
They barely believed it either: Ja'Lynn Polk still on the board at the 76th overall pick. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick100 Rnd3 Quinyon Mitchell
They read the board right and Quinyon Mitchell was the payoff at pick 100. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick101 Rnd4 Smael Mondon Jr.
By-the-book stuff, Smael Mondon Jr. at No. 101 squarely in line with his ranking. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick138 Rnd5 Luke Lachey
A straight-up fair deal on Luke Lachey at slot 138, value and slot in agreement. The roster fit checks out.
Pick163 Rnd5 Moose Muhammad III
Moose Muhammad III slid further than he should have, and the 163rd pick is lovely value for the wide receiver. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick180 Rnd6 Andrew Raym
They paid sticker price for Andrew Raym in Round 6, Pick 5, and that is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick222 Rnd7 Dwight McGlothern
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Dwight McGlothern at pick No. 222 is the proof. Where it fits the depth chart is the real question.
