Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall

FutureB-
The Seahawks cashed the board's mistake on Gray: D-. The Seahawks lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again. A D- that will need time and luck to look better.
Sanders has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. That is a linebacker worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.
Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even.
Pick Analysis
Pick22
Rnd1
Amarius Mims
In the 22nd pick they get a blindside protector. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick26
Rnd1
Ja'Tavion Sanders
In slot 26 they get a moveable chess piece at tight end, though they paid up to get him. A real need, handled.
Pick55
Rnd2
J.J. McCarthy
Nice patience on J.J. McCarthy, who had no business lasting to Round 2, Pick 23. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick57
Rnd2
Kingsley Suamataia
Kingsley Suamataia at pick 57 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick78
Rnd3
Calen Bullock
Calen Bullock in the Round 3 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick81
Rnd3
Kamren Kinchens
They let Kamren Kinchens come to them and pounced at No. 81. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick89
Rnd3
Marshawn Kneeland
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Marshawn Kneeland. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick97
Rnd3
Zak Zinter
Zak Zinter in the 97th pick is fair value, right on his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick119
Rnd4
Leonard Taylor III
The board fumbled Leonard Taylor III all the way to pick 119, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick126
Rnd4
Andru Phillips
The board had Andru Phillips higher than slot 126, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick151
Rnd5
Cedric Gray
Cedric Gray at Round 5, Pick 15 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick160
Rnd5
Roger Rosengarten
Roger Rosengarten slipping to the Round 5 slot is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick189
Rnd6
Luke McCaffrey
Luke McCaffrey in the 189th overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick194
Rnd6
Jared Wiley
No edge and no loss on Jared Wiley in pick No. 194; it is a wash and a sensible one. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick233
Rnd7
Josh Proctor
They barely believed it either: Josh Proctor still on the board at the 233rd overall pick. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick239
Rnd7
Frank Gore Jr.
A quiet steal in the Round 7 slot: Frank Gore Jr. for less than the market said. A need, and now a little less of one.
