Draft Grade — Falcons
Overall D+
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesF FutureD
The Falcons finally solved quarterback, and it carried them to a D+.

Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Falcons, and the value they bled adds up to real damage.

They have staked the next five years on Drake Maye, which is the only story that really matters here. They will need Bethune to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it.

They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even.

Pick Analysis
Pick4 Rnd1 Drake Maye
In pick 4 they get a passer to set the clock by at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick43 Rnd2 Xavier Worthy
By-the-book stuff, Xavier Worthy at Round 2, Pick 11 squarely in line with his ranking. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick74 Rnd3 Zak Zinter
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Zak Zinter. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick110 Rnd4 Tommy Eichenberg
Tommy Eichenberg at slot 110 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick142 Rnd5 Chau Smith-Wade
They reached a country mile for Chau Smith-Wade at No. 142, and the board is aghast. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick189 Rnd6 Jaylen Harrell
Jaylen Harrell at the 189th overall pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick201 Rnd6 Josh Proctor
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Josh Proctor in the 201st pick. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick241 Rnd7 Tatum Bethune
A big swing on Tatum Bethune at pick No. 241, well ahead of any board in the building. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
