SBOTW DRAFTING FOR THEEagles
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Eagles
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Eagles: B-. The Eagles put a flag in the ground for Trey Moore, 55 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit.
They banked enough surplus on Sabb to cover a lot of smaller sins. The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Deontae Lawson
In the 30th pick they get a three-down second-level presence, and a steal at that. More want than need.
Pick62
Rnd2
Nicholas Singleton
A reach on Nicholas Singleton in pick No. 62; the board had better options right there. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick94
Rnd3
Carson Beck
Circle this one: Carson Beck at Round 3, Pick 30 is a fall that decides a draft. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick99
Rnd3
Keon Sabb
Keon Sabb in pick 99 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick130
Rnd4
Davison Igbinosun
They paid a round early for Davison Igbinosun in the 130th overall pick, more than the board wanted. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick136
Rnd4
Nic Anderson
Nothing to complain about; Nic Anderson went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick159
Rnd5
Trey Zuhn III
They went early on Trey Zuhn III in No. 159, and the value did not follow. It fills a real need, too.
Pick169
Rnd5
Trey Moore
They reached into another round for Trey Moore, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick178
Rnd6
Princewill Umanmielen
This one needs a full-page explanation: Princewill Umanmielen in Round 6, Pick 2, miles early. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
