Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Steelers checked most of the boxes and earned a B-.

Somehow the biggest item on the list survived the weekend. The Steelers never addressed interior defensive lineman, and it is the kind of gap that lingers.

That Mateer pick is the receipt they will wave around later. They will need Sarratt to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. They left with quarterback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick14 Rnd1 Peter Woods
In the 14th overall pick they get a bendy edge with upside. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick46 Rnd2 Elijah Sarratt
Elijah Sarratt at pick 46 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick78 Rnd3 Caleb Tiernan
The board had cheaper options than Caleb Tiernan at the 78th pick, and it noticed. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick98 Rnd3 Tanner Koziol
They took Tanner Koziol at par in Round 3, Pick 34, which is nothing to complain about. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick114 Rnd4 Terry Moore
Terry Moore at the Round 4 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the safety. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick133 Rnd4 Kyle Louis
Kyle Louis in No. 133 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick153 Rnd5 John Mateer
John Mateer at pick No. 153 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick176 Rnd5 Noah Fifita
A tidy bit of business in slot 176, where Noah Fifita graded well above the range. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick192 Rnd6 Pat Coogan
Pat Coogan at slot 192 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
