Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesD- FutureA+
The Patriots finally solved quarterback, and it carried them to a B.

The rest of the league will want that one back. Bru McCoy tumbling to the Patriots in the Round 7 slot is a gift they did not have to think twice about. Good, not great, and the B says as much.

They have staked the next five years on Shedeur Sanders, which is the only story that really matters here. Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick13 Rnd1 Shedeur Sanders
In pick No. 13 they get a long-term answer under center. A real need, handled.
Pick35 Rnd2 Xavier Worthy
Xavier Worthy in the Round 2 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick51 Rnd2 Patrick Paul
Patrick Paul in slot 51 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick67 Rnd3 Ja'Lynn Polk
Ja'Lynn Polk at the 67th pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick97 Rnd3 Christian Haynes
They paid sticker price for Christian Haynes in No. 97, and that is fine. It fills a real need, too.
Pick103 Rnd4 Jason Marshall Jr.
They paid up for Jason Marshall Jr. at the Round 4 slot when waiting would have done the job. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick140 Rnd5 Tyler Guyton
By-the-book stuff, Tyler Guyton at Round 5, Pick 4 squarely in line with his ranking. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick178 Rnd6 Gabriel Murphy
The board had Gabriel Murphy higher than pick 178, and the edge rusher fell to them anyway. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick181 Rnd6 Raheim Sanders
No drama and no debate, Raheim Sanders went about where he belonged in pick No. 181. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick253 Rnd7 Bru McCoy
Steal is underselling it; Bru McCoy at the 253rd overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
