You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Bills did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high. Too much went sideways, and the D is the honest tally.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. With edge rusher and quarterback unsolved, spending premium capital on cornerback is the choice that costs them.

The cost of the Lambert-Smith reach is exactly the players who went right after him. Landing Nelson that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, edge rusher very much included.
