Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Raiders checked most of the boxes and earned a B.

You can hear the double-takes from here. The Raiders took Ty Hamilton at Round 7, Pick 6, roughly 31 spots before his name belonged. Good, not great, and the B says as much.

If one pick saves this weekend, it is Amos. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.

Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick6 Rnd1 Ashton Jeanty
In the Round 1 slot they get a bell-cow for the offense. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick37 Rnd2 Jalon Walker
Jalon Walker slid further than he should have, and slot 37 is lovely value for the linebacker. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick68 Rnd3 Trey Amos
Trey Amos in Round 3, Pick 4 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick108 Rnd4 Charles Grant
Charles Grant at pick 108 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick143 Rnd5 Dillon Gabriel
Dillon Gabriel at the 143rd pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The roster fit checks out.
Pick180 Rnd6 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
Dont'e Thornton Jr. at pick No. 180 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick213 Rnd6 Carson Vinson
A reach on Carson Vinson in Round 6, Pick 37; the board had better options right there. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick215 Rnd6 Howard Cross III
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Howard Cross III. It fills a real need, too.
Pick222 Rnd7 Ty Hamilton
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Ty Hamilton. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
