Draft Grade — Giants

Beck is the Giants' new face under center. Grade: D. When a board-topper like Jabbar Muhammad slides to the 120th overall pick, you do not overthink it, and the Giants did not. The board pushed back all weekend, and the D is the result.
So much rides on Carson Beck that the rest of the class almost grades on a curve behind him. The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.
They went 9 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
A rough weekend that leaves the roster with more questions than answers.
Pick Analysis
Pick4
Rnd1
Carson Beck
In pick 4 they get a franchise quarterback at fair value.
Pick21
Rnd1
Luther Burden III
In No. 21 they get a matchup problem out wide at a price that makes it sweeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick25
Rnd1
Colston Loveland
In the 25th overall pick they get a mismatch in the passing game, outstanding value to boot. A real need, handled.
Pick26
Rnd1
Denzel Burke
In No. 26 they get a ballhawk on the outside. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick56
Rnd2
Ashton Jeanty
Ashton Jeanty in pick 56 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The roster fit checks out.
Pick57
Rnd2
Howard Cross III
They read the board right and Howard Cross III was the payoff at the 57th pick. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick86
Rnd3
Landon Jackson
You do not let an edge rusher like Landon Jackson reach Round 3, Pick 22 and blink. They did not. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick87
Rnd3
Jalen Milroe
Taking Jalen Milroe in the Round 3 slot is close to grand larceny; a quarterback that good had no business lasting this long. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick88
Rnd3
Tyler Booker
They barely believed it either: Tyler Booker still on the board at pick No. 88. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick102
Rnd4
Clay Webb
Nice patience on Clay Webb, who had no business lasting to slot 102. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick103
Rnd4
J. Michael Sturdivant
Quietly one of the better values of the day, J. Michael Sturdivant at pick No. 103. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick120
Rnd4
Jabbar Muhammad
Somehow Jabbar Muhammad was still sitting there in Round 4, Pick 24, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick122
Rnd4
Dasan McCullough
Steal is underselling it; Dasan McCullough at the 122nd pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick131
Rnd5
Jason Marshall Jr.
Jason Marshall Jr. in the Round 5 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick134
Rnd5
Jonah Monheim
Jonah Monheim in pick 134 is fair value, right on his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick139
Rnd5
Tyler Warren
The board fumbled Tyler Warren all the way to No. 139, and they scooped it up. It fills a real need, too.
Pick140
Rnd5
Nick Emmanwori
Nick Emmanwori at slot 140 is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
