FutureB-
Gray should have been long gone. The Giants pounced, and earned a B+. The rest of the league will want that one back. Joshua Gray tumbling to the Giants in pick No. 166 is a gift they did not have to think twice about.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. A whole weekend of picks and safety is somehow still a want.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick Analysis
Pick13
Rnd1
Deone Walker
In pick 13 they get a disruptive interior force at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick24
Rnd1
James Pearce Jr.
In the 24th pick they get juice off the edge, and a steal at that. A real need, handled.
Pick38
Rnd2
Tacario Davis
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Tacario Davis at Round 2, Pick 6. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick70
Rnd3
Drew Allar
A straight-up fair deal on Drew Allar at the Round 3 slot, value and slot in agreement. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick102
Rnd4
Oscar Delp
Nice patience on Oscar Delp, who had no business lasting to the 102nd overall pick. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick134
Rnd5
Graham Mertz
They robbed the room for Graham Mertz here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The roster fit checks out.
Pick144
Rnd5
Dillon Gabriel
Somehow Dillon Gabriel was still sitting there in pick No. 144, and they pounced on premier quarterback value. It fills a real need, too.
Pick145
Rnd5
Deontae Lawson
The board fumbled Deontae Lawson all the way to slot 145, and they scooped it up. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick146
Rnd5
Jaeden Roberts
Jaeden Roberts in No. 146 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick147
Rnd5
Quincy Riley
Quincy Riley at slot 147 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick148
Rnd5
Jacobee Bryant
A cornerback of that caliber at pick No. 148 is the definition of value, full stop. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick166
Rnd6
Joshua Gray
You do not let an offensive lineman like Joshua Gray reach the 166th overall pick and blink. They did not. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick178
Rnd6
Armand Membou
Armand Membou at the Round 6 slot is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick198
Rnd7
Fentrell Cypress II
Fentrell Cypress II slid further than he should have, and pick 198 is lovely value for the cornerback. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick209
Rnd7
Antwaun Powell-Ryland
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Antwaun Powell-Ryland in the 209th pick. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick210
Rnd7
Bru McCoy
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Bru McCoy at Round 7, Pick 18 is the proof. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick211
Rnd7
Moose Muhammad III
Moose Muhammad III in pick 211 is fair value, right on his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick212
Rnd7
Theo Wease Jr.
They paid sticker price for Theo Wease Jr. in pick No. 212, and that is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick216
Rnd7
Khordae Sydnor
Khordae Sydnor at Round 7, Pick 24 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
