Draft Grade — Giants
Overall
B-
ValueA-
NeedB+
TradesD
FutureB-
The Giants let Fifita fall and pounced. Final grade: B-. The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Giants watched Noah Fifita slide 89 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.
If Bowman Jr. pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. The running back hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The dealing tilted against them, just enough to notice.
Interior defensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick Analysis
Pick18
Rnd1
Will Campbell
In the Round 1 slot they get an anchor for the offensive line, and a steal at that. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick23
Rnd1
Deone Walker
In the 23rd overall pick they get a load in the middle, outstanding value to boot. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick38
Rnd2
Shedeur Sanders
Circle this one: Shedeur Sanders at No. 38 is a fall that decides a draft. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick70
Rnd3
Carson Beck
Carson Beck in the 70th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick102
Rnd4
Oscar Delp
Somehow Oscar Delp was still sitting there in pick 102, and they pounced on premier tight end value. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick143
Rnd5
Billy Bowman Jr.
They talked themselves into Billy Bowman Jr. at pick No. 143, and the board did not agree. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick144
Rnd5
Gentry Williams
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Gentry Williams in slot 144, plain and simple. It fills a real need, too.
Pick166
Rnd6
Jaeden Roberts
Taking Jaeden Roberts in Round 6, Pick 6 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick167
Rnd6
Derrick Moore
They robbed the room for Derrick Moore here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick198
Rnd7
Noah Fifita
Noah Fifita at pick 198 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The roster fit checks out.
Pick199
Rnd7
Jake Johnson
Jake Johnson in the Round 7 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick207
Rnd7
Marcus Harris
Marcus Harris at No. 207 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick216
Rnd7
Nic Anderson
Fair-plus on Nic Anderson, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
