FutureB
Best value of the weekend goes to the Giants for Ward: A-. You could see the war room lean forward. Cameron Ward at slot 171 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. One of the weekend's best, top to bottom, and a A- to show for it.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. Reaching for Skinner left real value on the table behind him. On the needs board they went 9 of 9, with interior defensive lineman the one that mattered most.
Trust the process, because this time the process plainly worked.
Pick Analysis
Pick24
Rnd1
Tacario Davis
In pick 24 they get a potential shutdown corner at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick27
Rnd1
Tyleik Williams
In the Round 1 slot they get a load in the middle. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick38
Rnd2
JT Tuimoloau
JT Tuimoloau at No. 38 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick41
Rnd2
Jalen Milroe
Jalen Milroe is a better player than slot 41 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick70
Rnd3
Isaiah Bond
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Isaiah Bond in the 70th pick, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick92
Rnd3
Landon Jackson
They will replay Landon Jackson at pick No. 92 for years; that is how good the value is. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick105
Rnd4
Danny Stutsman
Taking Danny Stutsman in Round 4, Pick 9 is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick106
Rnd4
Jake Briningstool
Jake Briningstool at the 106th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The roster fit checks out.
Pick108
Rnd4
Josh Simmons
You do not let an offensive lineman like Josh Simmons reach the 108th pick and blink. They did not. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick109
Rnd4
Drew Allar
A quarterback of that caliber at the 109th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick110
Rnd4
Shilo Sanders
Shilo Sanders in No. 110 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick134
Rnd5
Deontae Lawson
They barely believed it either: Deontae Lawson still on the board at slot 134. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Pick139
Rnd5
Graham Mertz
The board fumbled Graham Mertz all the way to pick No. 139, and they scooped it up. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick144
Rnd5
Gentry Williams
Gentry Williams in Round 5, Pick 16 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick152
Rnd5
J. Michael Sturdivant
Steal is underselling it; J. Michael Sturdivant at pick 152 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick155
Rnd5
Smael Mondon Jr.
They robbed the room for Smael Mondon Jr. here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick156
Rnd5
Noah Thomas
Noah Thomas at the 156th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick166
Rnd6
Billy Bowman Jr.
A conviction pick on Billy Bowman Jr. at slot 166 that the board grades a round light. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick171
Rnd6
Cameron Ward
Cameron Ward in the Round 6 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It fills a real need, too.
Pick172
Rnd6
Damien Martinez
A tidy bit of business in No. 172, where Damien Martinez graded well above the range. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick177
Rnd6
Zion Nelson
Zion Nelson in Round 6, Pick 17 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick186
Rnd6
Jalen Travis
Jalen Travis at pick 186 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick198
Rnd7
Lathan Ransom
Somehow Lathan Ransom was still sitting there in pick No. 198, and they pounced on premier safety value. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick200
Rnd7
Dorian Strong
They took Dorian Strong at par in the 200th pick, which is nothing to complain about. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick209
Rnd7
Jaleel Skinner
Jaleel Skinner in Round 7, Pick 17 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick216
Rnd7
Zy Alexander
Zy Alexander at the 216th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
