Draft Grade — Giants
Overall

ValueB+

FutureA+
Grand theft in the 219th overall pick: the Giants steal Ward and grade out a D+. The board owed the Giants one, and it paid up: Cameron Ward, the No. 85 name on the board, sitting there at the Round 7 slot like a gift left on the doorstep. The process wobbled, and the D+ is where it lands.
The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. They are betting Gadsden II proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even.
Pick Analysis
Pick21
Rnd1
Travis Hunter
In No. 21 they get a press-man option on the boundary, outstanding value to boot. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick24
Rnd1
Evan Stewart
Evan Stewart at the 24th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick38
Rnd2
JT Tuimoloau
A quiet steal in slot 38: JT Tuimoloau for less than the market said. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick53
Rnd2
Drew Allar
They paid sticker price for Drew Allar in the 53rd pick, and that is fine. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick70
Rnd3
Josh Simmons
No edge and no loss on Josh Simmons in Round 3, Pick 6; it is a wash and a sensible one. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick77
Rnd3
Sebastian Castro
No drama and no debate, Sebastian Castro went about where he belonged in the Round 3 slot. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick88
Rnd3
Clay Webb
By-the-book stuff, Clay Webb at pick 88 squarely in line with his ranking. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick102
Rnd4
Jason Marshall Jr.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Jason Marshall Jr. in pick No. 102. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick109
Rnd4
Tez Johnson
Tez Johnson at the 109th pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick110
Rnd4
Nicholas Singleton
Nicholas Singleton at the Round 4 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick111
Rnd4
Garrett Nussmeier
A top-tier quarterback at a bargain, Garrett Nussmeier in the 111th overall pick, plain and simple. The roster fit checks out.
Pick112
Rnd4
Dasan McCullough
The board fumbled Dasan McCullough all the way to No. 112, and they scooped it up. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick134
Rnd5
Riley Leonard
They barely believed it either: Riley Leonard still on the board at slot 134. It fills a real need, too.
Pick135
Rnd5
Keon Sabb
They robbed the room for Keon Sabb here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick139
Rnd5
Trey Zuhn III
Good price on Trey Zuhn III in Round 5, Pick 11, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick142
Rnd5
Jacobee Bryant
They took Jacobee Bryant at par in pick No. 142, which is nothing to complain about. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick149
Rnd5
Jason Henderson
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jason Henderson in slot 149. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick166
Rnd6
Jake Briningstool
Jake Briningstool at No. 166 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick198
Rnd7
Oronde Gadsden II
A big swing on Oronde Gadsden II at Round 7, Pick 6, well ahead of any board in the building. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick219
Rnd7
Cameron Ward
A quarterback of that caliber at pick 219 is the definition of value, full stop. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick220
Rnd7
Fentrell Cypress II
Circle this one: Fentrell Cypress II at pick No. 220 is a fall that decides a draft. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick221
Rnd7
Jonathan Mendoza
Jonathan Mendoza in the 221st pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick222
Rnd7
Davin Vann
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Davin Vann. It fills a real need, too.
Pick223
Rnd7
Tim Smith
You do not let an interior defensive lineman like Tim Smith reach the 223rd overall pick and blink. They did not. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick224
Rnd7
Gerald Mincey
Gerald Mincey slid further than he should have, and slot 224 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
