Draft Grade — Giants

FutureB
The Giants left with their quarterback, and a D to match. When a board-topper like Wyatt Milum slides to pick 166, you do not overthink it, and the Giants did not.
They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. Whatever Carson Beck becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. They will regret leaving tight end for another day if the season turns on it.
A rough weekend that leaves the roster with more questions than answers.
Pick Analysis
Pick8
Rnd1
Carson Beck
In No. 8 they get a passer to set the clock by. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick38
Rnd2
Mason Graham
Mason Graham at Round 2, Pick 6 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick39
Rnd2
Will Campbell
They robbed the room for Will Campbell here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick40
Rnd2
Tetairoa McMillan
Tetairoa McMillan at the 40th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick41
Rnd2
Nic Scourton
The board fumbled Nic Scourton all the way to pick 41, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick70
Rnd3
Quinn Ewers
Steal is underselling it; Quinn Ewers at No. 70 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick71
Rnd3
JT Tuimoloau
JT Tuimoloau at pick No. 71 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick73
Rnd3
Andrew Mukuba
Andrew Mukuba at Round 3, Pick 9 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick80
Rnd3
Princely Umanmielen
Taking Princely Umanmielen in the 80th pick is close to grand larceny; an edge rusher that good had no business lasting this long. The roster fit checks out.
Pick102
Rnd4
TreVeyon Henderson
TreVeyon Henderson in slot 102 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It fills a real need, too.
Pick103
Rnd4
Clay Webb
Somehow Clay Webb was still sitting there in pick 103, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick134
Rnd5
Smael Mondon Jr.
They will replay Smael Mondon Jr. at Round 5, Pick 6 for years; that is how good the value is. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick135
Rnd5
Deion Burks
They barely believed it either: Deion Burks still on the board at pick No. 135. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick139
Rnd5
Jacobee Bryant
A straight-up fair deal on Jacobee Bryant at the 139th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick166
Rnd6
Wyatt Milum
Wyatt Milum in slot 166 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick167
Rnd6
Will Lee III
A cornerback of that caliber at the 167th pick is the definition of value, full stop. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick198
Rnd7
Billy Bowman Jr.
Circle this one: Billy Bowman Jr. at the Round 7 slot is a fall that decides a draft. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick199
Rnd7
Thor Griffith
You do not let an interior defensive lineman like Thor Griffith reach No. 199 and blink. They did not. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick219
Rnd7
Graham Mertz
No edge and no loss on Graham Mertz in slot 219; it is a wash and a sensible one. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
