Draft Grade — Bears

A respectable, level-headed haul for the Bears: B-. You can draft well and still miss the point. The Bears did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to edge rusher, which was the need that mattered most. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
They will need Van Pran to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. Interior defensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick Analysis
Pick1
Rnd1
Marvin Harrison Jr.
In pick 1 they get a true top target. A real need, handled.
Pick9
Rnd1
Jer'Zhan Newton
In the 9th overall pick they get a run-stuffing presence up front at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick75
Rnd3
Sedrick Van Pran
They paid a round early for Sedrick Van Pran in No. 75, more than the board wanted. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
