Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesD FutureA+
A costly weekend of dealing drags the Bears to a B-.

The trade table was where it all came apart. The Bears shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill.

The cornerback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Trice reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.

Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered.

In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick2 Rnd1 Marvin Harrison Jr.
In No. 2 they get a difference-maker at receiver. A real need, handled.
Pick20 Rnd1 Bralen Trice
In the Round 1 slot they get a double-digit-sack hope, though the board says they badly overpaid. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick67 Rnd3 Ruke Orhorhoro
Ruke Orhorhoro in the 67th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick75 Rnd3 Sedrick Van Pran
A reach on Sedrick Van Pran in Round 3, Pick 11; the board had better options right there. The roster fit checks out.
Pick84 Rnd3 Cooper Beebe
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 84 with a little surplus value in Cooper Beebe. It fills a real need, too.
Pick110 Rnd4 Beau Brade
Beau Brade at pick 110 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick122 Rnd4 Luke McCaffrey
They paid up for Luke McCaffrey at slot 122 when waiting would have done the job. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick146 Rnd5 Braelon Allen
A straight-up fair deal on Braelon Allen at the 146th pick, value and slot in agreement. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
