The tape said wait; the Giants did not. R.J. Oben went at the Round 7 slot, a good 105 picks before the board was ready. Good, not great, and the B says as much.

The Sanders value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. They will regret leaving cornerback for another day if the season turns on it.

Interior defensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the cornerback spot they never got to.
