Elzinga should have been long gone. The Seahawks pounced, and earned a D. You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Seahawks did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high.
They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. They are betting Gray proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
Elzinga at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 7 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even.
