Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Dolphins spent the Round 7 slot on Graham Mertz, a name most had 91 spots down the list. No fireworks, but a solid B.

Burnip at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. The roster is better shaped than it was, with quarterback chief among the fixes.

It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
