The board owed the Dolphins one, and it paid up: CJ West, the No. 185 name on the board, sitting there at No. 224 like a gift left on the doorstep. No fireworks, but a solid B-.

The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most. Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
